Roll My Way

I spilled a bag of dice on the floor.
One rolled under the sofa door.
Your name came up on the red one.
I laughed like that meant something.
Got a paper cup, got a lucky coin, got a half-burnt match in my pocket, boy.
Every little thing says move, so I let it spin, let it choose.
If I lean in, I might fall. If I back off, I lose it all.
So I hold my breath
and let it call.
Roll, roll, roll my
way. Take me where the wild things stay.
Mm, mm, mm. Roll, roll, roll my way.
I like the way the unknown plays.
Roll my way. Roll, roll, roll my way.
Roll, roll my way. I don’t need a perfect sign,
just a little twist in time. At the corner store, the clerk knew me.
Bought one peach and a pack of gum.
