When Love Lost Its Light

Don't ask me why our love has lost its light
Don't blame me for the dreams that faded too soon
The very first kiss we shared that day was meant to lead us all the way
Somehow love has slipped beyond our view
Don't ask me why
I'm not the same today
The smile
I wore has turned to silent tears
There are words
I'll never say so
I hide them deep away
And let the past years erase my hopes
We loved each other with all our hearts
We promised forever, never apart
I still keep the letter you left behind
Every loving word still echoes in my mind
Yet every line, oh, it only breaks my heart
Don't ask me why
I chose to stay silent
My heart is carried far too many scars
Don't ask me if
I still love you
Because loving you is why
I had to let you go
Don't blame me if
I can no longer smile
After everything we lost along the way
If happiness no longer carries our names
Holding on would only bring more pain
